Juan Alvarado
Software Engineering Student. Google TechX. Aspiring Machine Learning Researcher.
// SYSTEM LOG: PROFILE
My name is Juan Alvarado, and I am a proud first generation college student pursuing a Bachelors in Computer Science at Florida International University. As the first in my family to attend college, I've discovered my true passion in software engineering and machine learning. My academic journey has focused on object oriented programming, web development, and AI applications like OpenAI's Whisper and frameworks like LangGraph. I was awarded a NSF REU Fellowship during Summer 2025 by the University of Texas at Dallas, where I learned the fundamentals of academic research and machine learning. Coming from a working class background, I understand the value of hard work and am eager to apply my technical skills in professional settings. Currently am actively seeking internship and research opportunities to bridge my classroom learning with actual real world experience. Beyond academics, I'm deeply engaged in campus life through student organizations and school events. I'm also committed to giving back to my community, having volunteered as a kitchen aide at Camillus House for nearly four years. Whether I'm coding, learning new technologies, or serving others, I approach everything in life with the determination that comes from being a first generation student who knows the importance of seizing every opportunity.
My stack includes React, Three.js, Node.js, and a healthy obsession with 70s sci-fi aesthetics.
